Class Descriptions

All Levels Iyengar – Sundays and Thursdays we are following the Basic Guidelines for Introduction of Poses according to the Iyengar tradition. Past classes are available for free at betterlivingyoga.com. They are labeled “Iyengar Yoga with Kat Shull 1, 2, 3…” Tuesdays will be special topics like mood balancing, relieving headaches, back care, etc. Pre-recorded sessions of Tuesday classes will also be available for free at betterlivingyoga.com.

Very Gentle Adaptive Iyengar Yoga – We start this class seated in a chair (a sturdy kitchen chair or folding chair works fine), then move to the floor for more seated poses and reclined poses. We move at a pace that is easy to follow and make modifications to allow for different levels of strength, flexibility, and control. This class is especially designed for those with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, stroke, knee and hip replacements, and other balance or mobility issues. There is also a free “Iyengar Chair with Kat Shull” pre-recorded class at betterlivingyoga.com that you can follow at any time.

Gentle Adaptive Iyengar Yoga – In this class we do standing poses with the support of the chair (some standing, some seated). We move at a slightly faster pace than the Very Gentle class and your balance and strength will be more challenged. This class is also good for those with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, stroke, knee and hip replacements, and other balance or mobility issues.
